Fort Washington Way Contracts 6, 8 and 12

Cincinnati, Ohio

This fast-track project provided for the combination of the northbound and southbound lanes of I-71 into a common, lowered "trench" through the downtown business district. This required construction of over 4,800 lineal feet of inclined retaining walls, located along the northern and southern limits of the new trench, as well as the construction of five "platform" bridges spanning the mainline. Mahan also was awarded Contracts for the construction of several mainline and ramp bridges at the intersection of I-71 and I-75 at the west end of the downtown trench, and for the construction of a new floodwall and pump station. Winner of both the 2002 AGC of America "Build America" Award, and the 2001 Ohio Contractors Association "Move Ohio" Award.
